I listened to them both, the 700i in the store, and the 600i at home with the exact same cables and interconnects. I literally bought the very speakers and cables from the store that were connected to the 700i. The two integrated amps both give very, very similar results - in my case - with a pair Totem III speakers.
The 700i offers more power @ 175 watts per channel compared to 125 watts per channel with the 600i. I read a review that said the 700i "reveals more musical information" and I think they hit it dead on. If you need greater power or have a large room to fill, the 700i makes more sense, it will cost you though.
