did you try to find a dealer that sells both.if your serious about buying them, they will let you try them first.you might make a bad call if you don't listen first.good luck!
The Sonatina is a very fine speaker. I have owned a pair for 4 months now. You need very good electronics with them. The amplifier does not have to be very powerful. I have heard them on 12 watt SET's to 100 watt Mark Levinson and !30 watt Chord amps. They all sound wonderful. They are very detailed, dynamic and will play very loud (127 db). However they sound best at low and medium levels. The bass is very good, fast and tight. However I do not believe that it measures into the mid 20 cycles as advertised. The midrange is heavenly.
Kelleyann, I have owned a pair of Silverline Sonitinas for 6 months and I also evaluated the ProAc speakers. Although I never had the opportunity to review them in the same location, I found the Sonatinas to be very dynamic, fast, and defined. To my ear, the ProAc Speakers seemed to lack the midrange definition of the Silverlines and in turn some of the sonic realism. The Sonatinas require very little power to produce a rich, open soundstage. Additionally, since I originally purchased my Silverline Sonatinas, I have had the chance to meet Mr. Alan Yun (President/Owner/Designer)and tour his factory. He is the most knowledgeable, honest, and passionate individual towards hi-fi that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He personally does final assembly and tests every pair of loudspeakers shipped from Silverline. The speakers individual characteristics are recorded. I found Alan's personal involvement to be an added bonus when making a purchase of this magnitude. I recommend that you contact Alan at his Concord, CA factory www.silverlineaudio.com and listen to a pair of Sonatinas prior to a purchase decision. Best regards,
