Sequerra 7.7 Mk. 1 - finish?

This is a bit of a long shot but I thought I’d check anyway. I have 2 pairs of Dick Sequerra’s 7.7 speakers - the Mk 1’s, which was the first version he made after splitting off from Pyramid. They had a "suede" soft finish that I really liked at first, but found it impossible to keep clean as they seemingly attracted dust like a magnet. Subsequent versions were (usually?) veneered.

Does anyone who owns/owned these speakers know what that finish was? I emailed Dick Sequerra a couple of times but he didn’t respond to that part of the query. He did say that the tweeters were custom made and no longer available, which is why I bought a second pair, on ebay, so I could replace drivers if needed.

The reason I’m asking is because I’m going to sell them and I’d like to be able to restore the finish if possible, or at least be able to advise the buyer about whether the finish can be restored or if they’ll need to be veneered instead. They’re acoustically in great shape - the Met 7’s on which they’re based are one of the true classic small speakers - but cosmetically are a bit drab.
