Seeking experienced advise on Starlight Ceilings

I'm building a new theatre in my basement. I am considering a starlight ceiling but do not think its necessary to spend the extra $$$ on the newest fiber optic types - many high end builders have done simple/plexi-glass-super small christmas lights and results were stunning in the 90's. My question is should I choose this route, has anyone done this and had negative results, i.e. screen reflection issues off ceiling, or other? Thanks for any advise or thoughts you have.
