Ok folks , finally i have all major mods completed in the Jadis Defy7. I had a vid showing the new caps, /resistors,,but the mic was switched off.
Will make vid later showing the new mods.
Here is my latest vid showing the Seas Thors voicing vocals with a natural , clear fidelity to the recorded medium.
The weakness in my system now are
1) dated 17 yr old xovers
2) preamp
3) cd player.
What i mean by ~~weakness~~ is the old idea ~weak link in the chain~~~
The ideal pre is the jadis,,but that upgrade will not ever take place, as its out my agreeable budget.
The cd player can be upgarded to the PL.
The xovers will be upgraded later this year by Madisound,,,all caps will be Mundorf Silver/Gold .
As it is, the new Takman metal resistors really opened up the amp vs the carbon film resistors which made the sound *damp, flat*,,,My hunch was that we need to go back to what jadis employed at time of build cerca 2000. The Takman metal resistors live up to their reputation. Carbon rounds off the sound, making the muisc lack luster and offers much less fq separations. = The sound is more flat/pudding-like, maybe even ~~Jello-Y~
Jadis employed metal resistors for that reason. My guess is these Takman resistors are superior to the original Jadis metal resistors.
So now the SEAS Thors are voicing their magic.
The Sony cam mic is not doing justice to the Thors gorgeous natural dynamics of the EXCEL speakers.
My tweeter choice is the Millennium, not the Beryllium tweeter.
Beryllium would be too tinny at the top end and the human voice a bit *stiff*,,maybe even a *bark* at certain fq's.
The Millennium has no such faults. Possibly the lower mids may be more rich in the Beryllium, but its sacrificae I have to make,...There is no ~~perfect mid-tweeter~~~ where one shines here, the other shines in other fq areas.
The Millennium for my preference offers the finest balance across the board.
This is based on experience, fair and unbiased review.
