Plastic spikes? I liked the Star Sound brass ones so much I became a dealer for them. I replaced the steel spikes on my Sound Anchor and Skylan speaker stands with them and put them under my REL subs; it made a big difference. A friend just replaced the standard spikes on his new Tyler Acoustics speakers with them. They are not cheap but neither are the competing products. That said, I think any good metal ones would be an improvement over plastic.
