I bought a used CJ preamp which is configured for 220v, yet it has standard 3 prong U.S. type plug. Can I plug this into standard 110v outlet? What will happen? Will a step-up transformer degrade the sound?
Don´t do it. You need two 110 volt lines to feed the parallel plug terminals. Either you put a new 110 volt line or take power out of the dryer circuit if you have it which runs at 220 volts.
