RPTV and rack between Merlins. A no no?

Is there a significant difference when placing the Merlin VSM's on the sides of a Rear Projection TV and rack (about 8' apart) with just about 2 inches of the front of each speaker extending past the furniture AND having nothing between the Merlins.

Have any Merlin owners compared the two?

It isn't just a significant difference, it is a HUGE difference.

Ok, for 2ch the rptv is the problem. You will loose most all of the front to back part of the soundstage. It is the price one pays for having one of these highly reflective boxes between the speakers. Getting the speakers as far away from the tv; then a quilt over the tv when listening only will help recoup some of this.
