i agree with hodu that they're loose and having fun--it's nice to see them get away from the rigid studiocraft that sucked the life out of most of their recent stuff. however, there's a vague sense of parody to the project--they maintain a certain distance from the material as opposed to really inhabiting it. by contrast, i've been listening to a keith-inspired playlist on spotify (old chuck berry, jimmy reed, robt. johnson, etc.) and its quite a difference--ain't nothin like the real thing.
Rolling Stones Blue and Lonesome
Would like to hear your thoughts on the new Stones album. Having got the new Mono Box Set I've been listening to a lot of Stones lately. I think Blue and Lonesome is there best album since Tatoo You. Back to basics blues what the Stones do best. The over all quality of the album is very good. I would say this is my favorite new album of 2016.
