Rogue Stereo 90 and Harbeth 30.1s

I am using a medium-to-small size listening room (13 x 15 x 8) with a pair of Harbeth 30.1s driven by Channel Islands Audio D-200 MkII monoblocks (200 wpc) and a Rogue 99 as the preamp.  Sources are digital (Dragonfly Red via Jriver),  tape and vinyl,  mostly jazz.  Volume levels are soft to medium.  I am considering swapping the CI Audio monoblocks for a Rogue Stereo 90 tubed power amp.  Since I will not get a chance to test it in advance,  looking for advice here.  Does anyone have experience matching the Harbeth to a Rogue amp?  Are 90 watts enough to get them going?  Do they like tube power?  Thanks!

You should through in the Zesto Audio Bia 120 tube stereo amplifier. Simply wonderful. Very powerful, very very transparent, Some great reviews out there and having enjoyed this amplifier I can say the reviews are spot on.

The Channel Islands Audio D-200 MkII monoblocks are good however I know from experience you will be happier with all the positive changes you are going to hear should you go with the Rogue Stereo 90 tubed power amp and I would recommend you go with the Magnum upgrade.
Thanks; that was going to be a follow-up question as I read your response - whether the Magnum upgrade was worth it. My 99 preamp just returned from the factory after a super magnum upgrade and the improvement was worth it to me. Glad to hear you reccomend it for the 90.

Will probably give this tube amp a go.
I had a friend who ran Harbeth Super HL 5 (well..one of those similar sounding models anyways; my memory is fuzzy) and Manley Snappers (years ago; long before Manley’s huge price increase), and it sounded pretty good! Great midrange. Later that friend upgraded to Harbeth 40.1 and a BAT Rex amp - so I imagine 90 tube Watts should be fine with Harbeths.

The Rogue 90 should be quite similar in tube power to the Snappers, and also in that it provides a gutsy, dynamic sound. I’ve run Rogue amps including the 90 in my system, though with Tannoys. The Stereo 90 is a good amp; get it Magnum’d and stocked with Tung-Sol KT120 if you can.
