First big arena rock show I ever attended, Three Dog Night in 1970 in Phoenix. Warm up act was an unheard-of band called Blues Image. Knocked me out. The next summer, I was back in Phoenix and saw my second concert, Three Dog Night again at the same arena, this time warmed up by another unheard-of band, the Doobie Brothers. In those days, TDN were A-list rockers (to say nothing about the amazing sets by Blues Image and the Doobies). Those first two concerts changed my life. So, thanks, Corey Wells.
WHAT I GREAT LOSS, I ATTENDED THEIR CONCERT BACK IN THE SEVENTIES, THE GRASS ROOTS WAS THE OPENING BAND BOTH WERE FANTASTIC. ROBERTS STADIUM EVANSVILLE INDIANA.
I too went to a Three Dog Night show, was in college, early 1970's, and loved the concert. A great band, a great show, great songs (thanks Paul Williams), a great evening.
That sucks. I saw TDN at the Felt Forum and the Garden and they were incredible. That band was one of the best backing groups I've ever heard to this day. They were so big back then that their opening act was Stevie Wonder. Shame.
