Richard Thompson??

Walter, I have not heard his new release yet. His older things are wonderful like "Shoot Out The Lights" and "Pour Down Like Silver". Things of the last dozen years or so are great also. Few can turn a phrase like Thompson. Like "She was a rare thing,as fine as a bee's wing",and a couple of lines in the song about the 1952 Vincent Lightning motorcycle conjure great images. I was fortunate enough to see him solo about '92 in a very small club. He was perfect in that setting. He does an unusual thing, he uses MUSTARD to sooth his tired throat and did so on stage.Wonderful, interesting, subtle guitar work and has a very dry sense of humor, which was fun to boot. Waltersalas: I haven't formed a solid opinion, either, of "Old Kit Bag." I was neutral about it after one listening, and have put it aside. I'm hoping it grows on me when I play it again this weekend.

Yeah, me too, Lee. I will probably get the soundtrack anyway, as it appears to have some other pretty cool stuff on it, but I would have preferred to see it on his latest LP. Have you heard Richard's new record, 'Old Kit Bag'?

I just bought it, but haven't formed a solid opinion about it yet. I find most of his solo records to be pretty good to very good, but seldom great (unlike the records he made with former wife, Linda, almost all of which are great).
