Review on Coda Technologies 16 Amplifier went live today

Just wanted to inform the individuals that have shown interest in reading the full review on Stereo Times website, not just the comments on the on-going thread about the 16 amplifier, that it was posted this morning.  It gets into the details why this is a spectacular piece regarding performance, build quality, and it's very reasonable price for what you get for your money.

@rlovendale when you say new input stage are you talking about the low noise input transistors ?

I wonder would a stock 15.5 have many upgrades over a number 8? I mean I know its a very different amp with more capacitance, more current?

Used 15.5's go for around $5000 usd so a used 15.5 might be a good option over a new no 8.

I wonder though if the speaker is barely leaving class A, would we really get much benefit from the 16 over the 8 ?

Yup, almost like a Coda 12 that has more capacitance and maybe 40-50 watts class A for a price between a 16 and 8.

Hey just curious how come coda uses a hong kong made transformer? Why not something made in USA or Canada?

Interesting. Its cheaper too. But only 200,000 uf on the psu. I wonder how it compares to coda 16?

I am still amazed by Coda 16 stats! 3000 watt toroid, 280,000 uf PSU capacitance. For an amp of its size its truly amazing. I wonder if they can make a mono version for harder to drive speakers that has more power? Something to compete with gryphon mephisto or big pass XA200.8?

Did you buy Bobs 15.5+ that was recently up for sale? Congrats! Seems like an amazing deal! Have you compared it to any other amps ?

@yyzsantabarbara So how you liking the No. 16? Any plans on moving to something else? I really wish i could see a shootout between the 16, the x350.8 and the m900u.

@lancelock what other high end amps have you owned?

@yyzsantabarbara if i could get a demo id love to put it up against my arc ref5se. I did talk to one audiophile who said he liked the ARC LS27 more than his 07x but of course I have to hear for myself.

I see your speakers are about 88 db. Do the altecs drive it well? What kind of power output do they have?
