Review: DIYcable Jon Risch Line filter kit AC filter

This is a fairly straightforward kit, it is based upon Jon Risch's line filter design. This kit comes with a bare aluminum chassis, the parts, and high quality sockets. These sockets can be upgraded to ACME silver plated ones if you wish. The parts quality is excellent, and the assembly is straightforward. The chassis is very slick looking. I plug my entire front end into the conditioner, leaving the amp plugged into a distribution block without line filtering. This device helped remove power-based hash and grain from my system, and doesn't seem to compress the sound at all. Imaging in particular improved, and overall I am very very happy with the results. I used the ACME silver plated outlets, as they are some of the best around, and quite affordable at $25 a pop. My only complaint is that the IEC connector is a little sissy, there are superior ones available. These improvements are all over a very high quality passive distribution system, so I can't say how it stacks up to, say, a PS audio power plant, but for the price of the kit, it is a great project. The price is a tad high, but heck, the chassis is so cool that it is worth it.
