Restart Audio Research V140 tube amp

These mono blocks were put away eight years ago when I replaced them with a pair of Reference 210 AR amps.I need to fire up the V140s and plan to do so on a Variac unit starting at a lower voltage in order to reform the numerous capacitors in the circuit. These amps have solid state power supplies and I am uncertain if a lower voltage start up could damage those.Any advise?
