I run a Kenwood C2 basic preamp in concert with a Kenwood basic m2a power amp. More than enough power (conservatively rated at 220 watts) with amazingly transparent fidelity. I play both vinyl (through a Technics Sl1200mkii) and lossless digital CD rips on my system (through a transparent DAC). No sound treatment in the listening environment. I listen to metal, electronic, psychedelic, jazz, and acoustic music.
Replacement for Snell M7 Bookshelf Speakers
I’m thinking about replacing said speakers. The M7s I have right now are
awesome because they image very well, have bass that extends down to 40
hz (these are stand speakers!), and can handle a lot of power. However,
I find their lower mids to be muddy, and their treble to be a bit
recessed. I would like a new set of speakers that still retains these
positive qualities while also cleaning up the somewhat smeared frequency
response. Any suggestions? Buying used is a given, and they need to be bookshelf speakers. Less than $1000 is my pricepoint.
