Replacement for Snell M7 Bookshelf Speakers

I’m thinking about replacing said speakers. The M7s I have right now are awesome because they image very well, have bass that extends down to 40 hz (these are stand speakers!), and can handle a lot of power. However, I find their lower mids to be muddy, and their treble to be a bit recessed. I would like a new set of speakers that still retains these positive qualities while also cleaning up the somewhat smeared frequency response. Any suggestions? Buying used is a given, and they need to be bookshelf speakers. Less than $1000 is my pricepoint.

Any suggestions?  Must be bookshelfs and less than $1000.

I have an option to buy a used pair of M7s for $100. I'm exploring inexpensive used speakers just to try something different.

Sounds like you want it all, which isn't a bad thing.
