If it has to be one or the other then the skeletal RP8 would be my choice.

Rega RP8 vs. Planar 6
I’ve seen the Rega RP8 on sale for $2000, which is $1000 off (not to be confused with the newer and more expensive Planar 8). The Rega Planar 6 lists for a few hundred dollars less and is a newer model with a newer power supply. Since the RP8 and Planar6 aren’t that far apart price wise, any advice about which is preferable?
