Refrigerator noise

Seriously guys, how do you deal with it? My fridge is in the vicinity of my living room with all my equipment. It's pretty old machine, and the compressor is making noise almost half the time it's on ( seems to me pretty unusual, when I go to see my friends I never hear anything). I even set the level lower, but to no avail. Anybody with a similar problem? How can you check noise of a new fridge in a fairly loud environment of big store? Any recommendation (brand names)? No ice boxes please... :-)

Due to the interest of this oh-so-lame thread I will be starting a new site -FridgeoGon.

I cant believe I read the whole thing....
The compressor base should be fixed firmly. If the noise reduced obviously after pressing the compressor with your hand.

Then generally, it is caused by uneven force on the vibration damping rubber pad fixed on the compressor base or loose bolts, and the compressor base plate is not firm. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust and tighten the connecting bolts and change the washer with lost elasticity.

Also, check whether the connection reinforcement part between the outer adjustment pipeline and the box is loose to avoid resonance when the compressor is working. Therefore, the refrigerator compressor must fix the external channel well, and the refrigeration compressor should add the bolt with the spring washer to prevent loosening.
Where were you 2 years ago markee?

The OP is probably going nuts from the noise, or went out and bought a new fridge!
Our SubZero Pro 48 is very quiet. I still unplug it when I do measurements but I unplug everything that can make a constant noise.
Our Media room is totally open to the kitchen and It never bothers me when listening to music.
