Rebuilding the Pioneer SX-82 Tube Amp/receiver

I am building a new audio system. I bought a Pioneer SX-82 receiver. This amp was built in two versions with one having a 6AN8 driver tubes and other with 12AX7 driver. I got the better 12AX7 version. It uses 7189A PP power tubes for 28 watts RMS per channel. The amp has a high dampening factor of 70 for a tube amp, The audio transformers are large and use Z11 vs USA M6 laminations for 50% high inductance. Likely equal to expensive aftermarket Japanize audio transformers. My rebuild:

First change HV rectifier to zero noise Cree diodes. Change voltage doubler capacitors to 1000uF each for low AC ripple that you cannot hear in this PP amp. I will change all coupling caps including tone control caps to Russian K40Y-9. I tried other high-end caps but nothing sounded better IMO than the K40Y-9 PIO caps. I tried a lot of 6BQ5 tubes and nothing compared to GE. Usually, GE tubes are substandard. Best 12AX7 is the JJ frame grid E83CC. Fortunately stock is still available. The second best sounding 12AX7 was the Mullard 12AX7, Both tubes sound quite similar, but the JJ projects further into the listening space. The Mullard is quite accurate sounding but have a more recessed sound. I bet this amp will compete with any $2K tube amp. My system will use a turntable. I am inclined to buy a new belt drive TT vs vintage Technics 1600 series.
