Quick cable question

Ok i have made a diy power cable for my nad c 541 reciever. the reciever only has 2 wires, hot and cold. I made the new cable with those 2 only. Can i plug in a old reciever that has a 3 prong plug now with my new plug that only has 2. NO ground on the new cable. thanx kevin
