Question For Owners Of Triode Lab Amps

I am trying to decide on either a Triode Lab 2a3 SET amp(mono-blocks) or a 45 SET based amp/mono-blocks. I definitely have decided to buy one of these superb amplifiers made in Canada. Though cost dictates that I buy used. I have owned about five previous 2a3 amplifiers. I have less, but some experience with 45 based amps.

In my experience, all 2a3 amplifier designs have that famous clarity. However, some can tend, overall, to the lean side, and do not have that golden midrange magic that most are seeking in a SET. Other 2a3's I've owned and/or heard do offer that magical midrange. I'm trying to determine where Triode Lab 2a3's fall in this area.

I would greatly appreciate comments by owners or previous owners of Triode Lab 2a3's. Or, especially those who have heard/owned, or has significant experience with both a Triode Lab 2a3 and 45 based amplifier. Thanks for any assistance, it's greatly appreciated.

Mike,

I remembered your message in the 2a3 discussion here in the forum, and that you had used both in shows. I was hoping to hear from you. Thanks for the insight!
