Question for any Luxman 505u owners

There’s an old thread about the Luxman 505u integrated amp, but it doesn’t address my question. I hope someone can help.
the 505u has no tape monitor switching, but the 505ux does. Can the “u” be used to monitor a 3-head deck by selecting phono on the “record out” for instance and setting the “source” to either recorder 1 or recorder 2? Are #1 and #2 capable of playing back a tape while it’s being recorded?
