I accidently switched the oscillator coax cables on one of my converters once so that the 49MHz clock was switched with the 45MHz clock. When I played 44.1 tracks, they were using the 48 oscillator, so they were sped-up a bit.
My first impression was that this was an improvement, because the dynamics seemed to improve. I fixed it of course because it is completely contrived and inaccurate.
I would recommend that you pursue other ways of getting the same increase in sound quality, like:
1) reduce the jitter
2) eliminate or minimize the effect of digital filtering in the DAC
3) buy better equipment
