question about digital audio & sound quality with examples?

i love the convenience of digital audio & as a way to improve the sound quality i started

post processing the commercial release by pitch shifting the audio in a certain way that i

discovered improved the sound to my ears. however there are some side effects from

using this technic (1) the dynamic range is improved by +3db so i have to lower the volume

by -3db to keep the audio from clipping here's before & after pictures from the dr test.

(2)another side effect is for some unknown reason it removes all the brickwall limiting

from the original digital/cd as if it had never been put on there in the first place? &

i don't know how to get it back. however for some strange reason it sounds better to my ears.

When I played 44.1 tracks, they were using the 48 oscillator, so they were sped-up a bit. My first impression was that this was an improvement, because the dynamics seemed to improve. I fixed it of course because it is completely contrived and inaccurate. I would recommend that you pursue other ways of getting the same increase in sound quality, like: 1) reduce the jitter 2) eliminate or minimize the effect of digital filtering in the DAC 3) buy better equipment Steve N.
