Quality of phono pre-amp on McIntosh MX 135

I read somewhere that the phono pre-amp on the C52 is exactly the same as their stand alone MP100 phono pre-amp. I am using a MM cartridge on my TT and am using the built in phono stage on the MX 135.  Would I benefit from a separate phono stage like the MP100?

I had a c52 Mac preamp.
Tbh I was NOT impressed with the phono stage in it at all.
Very mellow and not dynamic.
I got much better results using a fairly cheap Dynavector p75 mk3 so Pretty sure most half decent phono stages would better it.
