PS Audio Power Base

I’ve had a PS Audio Powerbase for quite a while with my TT sitting on and powered via it. Am about to upgrade the turntable but that occasioned me to think about this setup. The Powerbase has filtering capability but I’m unaware if it has surge suppression (I’m thinking not). I was wondering if I should plug it into a surge suppressor like one of the small Tripp Lite ones. Right now it’s plugged into a wall socket. I had some thought about plugging a preamp into it also.
