Could non-progressive scan approach close to progressive scan dvd player in performance ?Suppose HDTV and dvd player are set up right? or is progressive scan dvd player always win out?
Depends on the display and the quality of the player. I have a display with a built-in doubler that essentially takes a 480i picture and de-interlaces it and displays it as 480p, progressive scan.
Yes, it does depend on the display. Many of the new displays up-convert the dvd progressive signal to 720. If your display does this then progressive will give you better pq. Most all of the early RPTV (hdtvs) won't do 720,so how old your display is, would be a clue.--
