Problem with Shanling CD T100

I suddenly cannot turn up the volume on the cd player, only down. All other buttons on the remote work fine. Is it likely a remote controller problem or something internal? This model doesn't have an onboard volume control so isnt usable without the remote. Will a universal remote possibly be an answer? Thx for any input guys. I'm missing my music!
