Apart from Preamp (CAT SL1) I am using the CD palyer with 2 clocks and two Premium Prolgoue Power amps in modo mode. Apologies if I get the names mixed up. The CD gives stunning results with 2 metal based Philips Recitifiers from 1958 and presently 4 new, not NOSm Siemens 5814A tubes. The power amps and preamp are all fitted out with Valvo Hamburg tubes, where critical with D getters and 17 mm plates. I play entirely classical music and a German lady in the tube and electronics market put me onto the Hamburg Valvos. They may be badged Amperex etc but the key to identifying them is the acid code on the glass and sometimes painted on underneath, There is always a D for Germany whereas Heerlen using a Greek delta symbol. The difference between D getters and Halo 45 degree getters is in the higher end especially with piano works. Because the sound is so clean and detailed it is tempting to play everything too loud. I even found some Mullard tubes made in Germany. At the end of the day it is what you like that appeals.
