Preamp Deal of the Century

If anyone is looking for a true "World Class" preamp at a very fair price..heed my advice. I just recieved a Supratek Syrah preamp that was hand built by Mick Maloney in Western Australia, and it is absolutely beautiful! This preamp is the best deal you will ever find. I would put it up against any preamp out there for both looks and sound. Price? $2500 for the Syrah (includes Killer Phono stage). Not into phono? Try the Chardonney line stage for $2100. Don't get me wrong, I am not associated with this company. I am just a very happy owner! This preamp is VERY dynamic, yet liquid. It conveys the sound of music better than any other preamp that I have ever heard! You can check out the Supratek website at www. cantech.net.au

I retrieved that photo from Mick's blog. I have one new in the box (line stage) but have noi had time to pull it out to set it up or I would have taken a photo of mine.

Mick is doing the right thing and building me the black unit I ordered ASAP. He asked me to ship the current wood version Grange to his service guy in NC to have the socket swapped out. It will then be sold. If anybody wants pictures, let me know. The wood unit looks and sounds amazing, it is just not what I ordered 7 months ago...

Hey just curious, looking to see if any of our happy (or unhappy) Supratek owners have mated it to a solid state amp?   And if any, what’d you mate it to and how did it go?

I saw a post here where a member touched on this, but it was very early on in this discussion, like 15 or 20 years ago….lol.

Thanks all.

Me too, being in fishing mode for such a combination.  No hurry..  I looked, but I cannot find any relevant (to me) specifications on the Supratek site.  Lots of words, though.

Things like RMS voltage output and output impedance are important considerations when matching pre and power amp, of whatever topology.
