Preamp Deal of the Century

If anyone is looking for a true "World Class" preamp at a very fair price..heed my advice. I just recieved a Supratek Syrah preamp that was hand built by Mick Maloney in Western Australia, and it is absolutely beautiful! This preamp is the best deal you will ever find. I would put it up against any preamp out there for both looks and sound. Price? $2500 for the Syrah (includes Killer Phono stage). Not into phono? Try the Chardonney line stage for $2100. Don't get me wrong, I am not associated with this company. I am just a very happy owner! This preamp is VERY dynamic, yet liquid. It conveys the sound of music better than any other preamp that I have ever heard! You can check out the Supratek website at www. cantech.net.au

I have recently purchased a Chenin and have a question regarding noise. I have not read all the posts so I appologize if I missed previous information. I am hearing a destinct hum out of my power supply even though it is away from my amp and not very close to my source. Is this normal? It isn't super noisy but it's definately there.
Dave,

Thanks for the info. I will try unpluging my other components and see what happens. I am running my audio on a dedicated circuit but it's worth a try. I also didn't notice it when I first recieved it. If I need to I will get some sort of line conditioner. Thanks again.

Mgv,

Thanks I will try that. I did try turning off all breakers except audio and still had the hum so what you are saying seems logical.

Thanks for the thoughts and observations on the hum issue. I will check the voltage at my panel to see if it really is 120v. I have also tried unplugging all components except the pre with all other breakers off to see if it was interference from another component but there was no change. It's not a major issue because it is only noticeable from a few feet away. I will also check the bolt tightness. I had not considered that because it's a new unit. Thanks again.
