Pre amp or DAC

Happy Holidays to everyone.
So here is my question. I would like to upgrade my preamplifier this next year. I listen to Spotify etc. on my Bluesound node and CD's. I do not have any records. So could I get away with a digital preamp or DAC. I have an Anthem TLP 1 preamp, a McIntosh mc352 and Genesis APM 1 speakers. I would consider a McIntosh D150. This would be the top of my price range. My friend has an Emotiva DAC to try out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thankx, Arthur

I really like the new Audio Alchemy DAC/Preamp. It performs nicely with the additional power supply. Since using it I've taken the melos preamp out of my system.
A modern DAC with variable output is effectively a pre amplifier for those who have abandoned analogue sources (as I have). An alternative would be an Oppo UD 205 UHD Bluray disc player as it also has external digital inputs and can serve as an excellent pre amplifier. If you choose that route you can also discard your cd player, and watch opera etc with great sound.
