Powering up amp

I know this has been discussed in past. What is the correct order of powering up/down the amp. Thanks

Avguygeorge,

Turn on sequence:
Turn on preamp, turn down volume, turn on power amp.

Turn off sequence:
Turn down volume, turn off power amp, turn off preamp.

If you still get noise, there is something wrong with your power amp. You should have it checked out.

While I always turn the amp on last---I get some noise/part garbled music if I turn off the amp first.--

All source signal material, music, should be off first.
In other words no music playing....... Otherwise sure when the Amp is turned off it will continue playing music until the caps in the power supply are bled off and no longer supply power.
While I always turn the amp on last---I get some noise/part garbled music if I turn off the amp first.--So therefore I conclude; I should turn off the pre first. I also conclude all amp circuits aren't the same.--YMMV
I agree with the other posters. First on would be CD or audio source, then preamp, then power amp. Turn them off in reverse order.
