@dtune If a US product, pin 2 of the XLR is the same is the tip of the TRS connection and is non-inverting, which should be the same is the center pin of the RCA.
In Europe, the polarity of pins 2 and 3 is reversed.
Polarity of XLR to RCA
Hi, I have a DAC with both XLR and RCA outputs. I use balanced connections for mains and unbalanced connections for subwoofers. It is an 8 channel DAC.
I have a second 8 channel DAC that I need to insert in place of the first DAC from time to time to perform room correction measurements with microphone inputs (Pro Audio style). This second DAC has only balanced 1/4 inch TRS connections.
There are adaptors available to convert TRS balanced to XLR balanced and these should follow pin for pin standards with no issue.
There are adaptors available to convert TRS balanced output to two RCA single ended outputs. My problem is trying to replicate the polarity of the first DAC so I would know which single ended output to choose of the two available from the TRS to (2)-RCA adapter.
I suspect there is some convention to use a certain polarity on DAC with both single ended and balanced outputs but I have never read such a thing. I'm hoping someone out there has the answer.
Thanks!
