Thanks for the link, much appreciated, as is the rec of Crutchfield. Are they generally good for giving recommendations and just not sales? I am "new to the game" that’s why even the link you kindly shared, Im not sure what to do with it. What specification will tell you the "timber"? How do you check the timber for Infinities and then check the timber for these? Besides that, I would actually like to talk to a dealer or crutchfield or any professional who has the knowledge to tell me the best speakers in my budget to fit what Im looking for. The problem is they seem to usually only recommend the brands that they are contracted with. I get the feeling they have a handful of products they make good profits off of, and their goal in the conversation is not to listen to exactly what I want to achieve with my project, and then recommend the best value, best performance products that exist, even if they don’t sell them, but instead to steer me towards what they are selling no matter what. I am not being critical because that is their job and how they make a living as a salesman. It’s just when you’re going to someone for advice, like on a forum, now the lines are blurred because you are trying to talk to them as an objective source of knowledge and recommendations about products, a non-self-interested resource of knowledge on a forum, but they are still acting as a self-interested salesman not making any distinction between their normal job and this unique situation where someone is asking for advice about all products in existence available in all shops, not coming to their personal shop where they are a salesman for only the products available in their shop. There are probably 50 in-ceiling speaker options out there, and each seller maybe sells 3 of them or 5 of them, so what are the odds those 3 or 5 are actually going to contain the best one for my setup? I need someone I can ask about all 50, who will know about all 50 and be able to tell me which 3 or 4 I should look at closely and choose between. Do you think that "someone" is crutchfield? Edit: Checked all three on the link, doesnt appear from pictures or word searches that any have backs, or can be tilted. Please let me know how to at least check the timber specification. How do you determine if one brand's speaker has the same "timber" as another? |
