Pioneer VSX-49TX - Any Interest?

I recently came into possession of a used Pioneer VSX-49TX receiver, complete with its remote and original box, from a widowed friend. Her late husband—an engineer at Motorola—clearly took great care of it. While I’m not certain the unit is fully functional, it does produce clean stereo sound when set to Direct mode. However, I haven’t been able to get any on-screen display via a monitor, which makes me wonder if something internal may have failed—or if I’m simply overlooking a crucial setting.

As much as I’d like to see it working, I don’t have a use for this receiver and after spending a few hours troubleshooting, I’m close to sending it off to be recycled. That said, I know the VSX-49TX was a top-tier piece of equipment in its day, and I’ve seen that the remotes are still in demand. I’d much rather see it go to someone who might repair, repurpose, or use it for parts than have it end up in a landfill.

Is there anyone in the Chicagoland area who might be interested in taking it as-is? Shipping isn’t really an option—it weighs about 65 pounds.
