Pioneer sc27 with external DAC?

I recently purchased a Schiit Gungnir DAC and want to use it with my Pioneer SC27. The SC27 has a built in DAC but the technology is several years old and I figured a new external DAC would sound better.

Problem is I can't get it to work. I've tried all the analog inputs, the multi-channel inputs and making sure the inputs in the MCACC are set to the component selection I'm hooked up to, but I can't get a sound out of it.

Is there a way to by pass the SC27's internal DAC or how otherwise should I hook it up?
