Pioneer PL-570 service?

I have a great looking PL-570 in need of mechanical service. I bought second hand, it worked flawlessly for several months. Then, abruptly, the tonearm won't move, and platter won't rotate. My usually reliable tt tech took a look, says it needs new timing motor. I ordered the motor, but my tech now says he doesn't want to do repair. Any service person recommendations for this table? I'm in NC and would prefer not shipping too far, trying to keep cost to a minimum. Thanks much, Balthus
