Phasemation MC

Hello,

I moved to MC a few months ago after owning many MM cartridges. I bought an AT33EV, which is on a Clearaudio Performance DC with an AT1000T step-up and a tube preamp. I love the sound and feel like I should have switched to MC sooner!

I'm going to Japan in two months and thought it would be a great opportunity to buy a cartridge, as Japanese models are cheaper there than in Europe.

If I had to criticize the AT33EV, I'd say the low end could be more precise (but not less deep), and the highs could be more open (but not harsh).

I've heard a lot of good things about Phasemation. Do you think the PP200 or PP300 would match my setup and meet my expectations?

@inca21

hey

have you already back from Japan?

I'm waiting for exited story of buying PP200(300) smiley

meanwhile I've got Hana sl

Nagaoka MI is your best bet in Tokyo.  MP500 is an excellent cartridge, and IMO it competes with or betters any MC anywhere near its price range.

Hey,

@fisha sorry for the delay I had trouble with the connection to Audiogon.

The trip to Japan was amazing of course ! It is such a paradise for records lover. There is a lot of quality record shops and audiophile bars.

I had a very good deal on a PP300 and I'm glad I bought it. Straight out of the box it is very good ! From the 33ev it is an other world. The level of details, the dynamic, the stereo field everything is way better. It sounds real !

The pp200 is probably already a great cartridge

I am a advocate of Phasemation, my experience had of their designs to date, have always left me wanting to say very good things about the products demo'd.

The PP 300 can be found with a hunt for close to $1K, near $1.2K with shipping and Taxes added if imported.

For such an outlay, an Hour of replay can be as little as a Dollar Bill.

Add a Dollar to the latest album purchased to get a very special groove interface.

Keep your LP's purified clean and there is potential for another 1000 Hours giving close to $00.50c per hour.

Neil Antin has created the perfect method for purifying the Vinyl LP, his guidance is Tip Topety Top.

Give it up to 200 hours of use and report back, you'll have many adjust their shortlist.

What's not to like about your choice that is made, absolutely nothing.

Do keep in mind any MC Cart' of any value, can't repel the contamination that is to enter the inners of the cart' and take up residence on Armature, Coils and Damper.

A Third Party Service, given their chance to carry out a surgical clean and a Tension Wire adjustment if required at between 550 hrs - 750 hrs will free up the mechanics, improve the Damper Interface and let the Cart' sing beyond what could ever have been imagined.
