Peter Lederman in Second Bout With COVID-19

I saw on Facebook late last night that Mike Fremer told one of his Audio Friends that he heard from Peter Lederman of Soundsmith that he is suffering his second round with COVID.  Peter said he has blood clots on his lungs. That is all the post said.  Here is hoping that Peter pulls through with a full recovery.

Just wait until old concert t-shirts, dad jeans and velcro sneakers are banned, then the threads will REALLY get interesting.
@devilboy

Those living in the west and, more specifically the USA, are more mobile, they travel more and are therefore more likely to infect others or be infected by others traveling to the USA.

Another way of looking at your 4% of the world population, 20% of the world death total example.  Maybe the rest of the world under reported deaths? It's possible the lockdowns may have worked elsewhere? Maybe the rest of the world took it more seriously?  Maybe the rest of the world was fundamentally healthier? Who knows why but alot of people died that didn't have to. It was unfortunate. Many of us lost family members. Imagine how bad the data must have been for the then current administrations at the state and national level that they began panicking.

It was and still is very real and the anti mask, anti vaccine crowd never bothered me. It was troubling but those choosing to exercise their perceived right to not comply didn't really affect me to my knowledge. I admittedly, however, avoided tractor pulls, MAGA rallies and gun shows so that might explain some of my lack of stress. Peace to all and good health.
@devilboy

A couple of points.
First, I happen to be a 40 year registered republican, not that it matters nor is it anyone’s business. You assume I’m from the other side of the aisle because I dont align with your beliefs. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to identify with a republican candidate though. Now, I just vote in the republican primaries hoping to nominate a reasonable candidate, hoping they face off with a reasonable candidate. Then I consistently vote with the person I believe will govern with compassion and honesty.

Second, I certainly didn’t mean to touch a nerve with the tractor pull, Maga, gun show comment. I wouldn’t have thought any of those three activities would align with most reasonable audiophiles.

Finally, you have a decimal place off I believe on your Covid mortality rate. You list it as .18% when it is actually closer to 2%. (600,000 deaths, 30ish million cases). Have you by chance recently switched careers, perhaps auditing voter counts in certain states?
@millercarbon

All due respect, Johns Hopkins lists the official death rate at 1.8%

If you are citing different data by a factor of ten, pleases reference the source.
@devilboy your post is ill-informed and the correlations you infer are not correlations at all. It is the equivalent of saying that a drowning victim actually died from trying to breath water. Don't get the shot(s) if you don't want to but it is absolutely irresponsible of you to post what you posted. Your dna, for better or worse, would not be modified by taking the vaccine.

Best of health to you Mr. Lederman.
@devilboy I dislike no man although I recognize that my occasional sarcasm doesn't translate well. Apologies.
@devilboy I will try a different tack. You have dug in to your position but I am aware of a number of people who suffer from lingering effects post covid. You know people you believe suffer from post vaccine effects. Never in the history of mankind has there been a larger clinical trial if you want to think of it that way. Take the shot or don't, it's your decision.

(I'm about to insert some sarcastic humor)

Have you considered taking the vaccine but not tell anyone?  That way no one would feel you abandoned them and the cause.  Imagine if you didn't get sick, you didn't assist mutation (which takes place in a host) and you would be assisting the effort to achieve real herd immunity.  You might feel so good that you could join the effort to suppress the vote or deny climate change?

Seriously, I care about you because you have some bad data. I lost my mother before there was a vaccine.  She was in every high risk category but that doesn't mean another dinner together wouldn't have been nice.  All of the reasons you have stated as logical for not taking the vaccine could be said for almost any medicine you have ever taken before without questioning the trial.  Anyone who had a serious Covid case would have gladly traded taking the vaccine (other than a couple on here who have gone all in politically).  Once again, whether you do or don't isn't that big of a deal to me but retrace your last week and I am 100% certain you have put something in your body each day which wouldn't clear the hurdle you have tried to apply to the vaccine.  It's your life, or Peter's life or the life of your loved ones.
Oh come on guys, we don’t want anyone to get sick, let alone to pass away.
@dover

Your stats are misleading. Access for many is still troublesome in some areas. Recent trends however show disproportionate vaccine uptake among several ethnicities which may indicate the barriers are dropping. Those identifying as white received over 200% of the vaccines early on when compared to their percentage of the overall population. Strangely enough, that trend has almost completely reversed and wouldn't you know it, the current trend indicates that vaccinations will soon be tracking with the percentage of population representation.

Why is it deemed cute to post something like that @dover ? Take the shots, don't take the shots, but to make a back handed inference is truly unfortunate.
@cd318

Would you mind terribly stating your position on Covid and the vaccine dilemma? I'm having a bit of trouble after reading your post discerning whether you come down in favor of getting vaccinated or if your preference would be to not do so at this time. (Yes, I am in fact trying to find a little humor with posts like these)

Don't get the shots, do you feel better? Do you rise each day bitter or does that follow your first cup of coffee? Be sure and at least consider social distancing, I'd hate for you to catch diabetes.
@isochronism

IF he actually made that statement, statistically an outbreak was a probable prediction given low international travel barriers, sporadic consistency of health systems from country to country and the nature of infectious disease. Additionally, it would have been a pretty safe bet then because one typically expects an administration to last 8 years.

Seriously? You can't really be implying there was a conspiracy to unleash this intentionally? Imagine how much one could accomplish dedicating one's energy into productive pursuits. I really do feel terrible that there are quite intelligent people out there spending their precious time zeroing in on something that doesn't exist.
@isochronism

Why are you quoting verses from a particular "collection of short stories"?

Exds 21:7 states that it's quite alright to sell one's daughter into slavery.....what do you think is the going rate these days?

Or do you pick and choose your virtues and news sources piecemeal?
