Perreaux SXV1 Phono Preamplifier

Audio Advisor offers these units at $350. High gain, appear to be well made, specs appear to be excellent, but I have no idea how it sounds. Does anybody out there know if this is: (a) wolf in sheep's clothing (b) a genuine bargain or (c) at best an also-ran, at worst a dud? Briefly stated, how does it sound? Thanks. And don't ask compared to what, well ok: right now it's a Sumiko Phono Box. Thanks.

I bought one of these about a month ago and I am very pleased with it. Sounds far more expensive then its modest price. Super quiet, very clean and natural sounding to me. See my post on Audio Asylum Vinyl in mid-August. I got no response so I bought one to try it out, highly recommended for the price. Only weakness is power switch is on the back where you can't see it and no LED to indicate if it is on or off on the front.
Hi Pbb. There is a post over on the Audio Asylum in which the poster claimed that he tried the SXV1, and it outperformed his Plinius Jarrah.

I looked it over on the dealer's website, and it looks to be pretty good. It has all the gain and impedance selections you'll ever need. Seems to be nicely constructed. Certainly has a reasonable price. And Perreaux has always had a good reputation.

I've never heard one, but it seems like it would be a good bet to be a nice sounding unit for the money.
