You are correct GK, all of this was stated clearly by Tim himself many posts ago.
The magnetism on the larger cards was just there to aid in placement for locations like breaker panel doors etc, or you would be out there with the Gorilla tape!
I am pretty sure Tim also said the mini cards would be approx. 1/10 the size of the larger E mats and also a corresponding 1/10th as strong an effect.
But the advantage is being able to place into or under smaller units like small Schiit headphone amps or similar small casework DAC.

I just did the SR September special and blue fuse in the Ayre A7xe and duplex in the wall that feeds my cpt eq1800.
A Great deal imho.
It's early days but between those and a couple other tweaks the noise floor has fell off the planet. With ear against tweeter on analog phono stage I am hard pushed to hear a very faint hiss. Huge difference.
And yes effortless is a good way to describe the music. It's just more. Hard to describe.
Now very interesting to see what more mats would do. |
Next item on my tweak list is the TC paste.
One thing I would like to say after dealing with Tim and talking to him on the phone is that he is most definitely one of the good guys in this hobby.
A true gentleman and a man of his word.
Combine that with outstanding product and it's hard to beat.

I would have to say that units do not need to actually be turned on for the mats to work their magic. I have been working away for a week and the change in sq today after 1 week is glaringly obvious.
So much space and air around vocals, piano, acoustic guitar etc.

I have 2 e-cards and can confirm their size belies their effects.
I have one each under half width units, a DAC and a music server and am truly impressed.
The larger mat is perfect for breaker doors and full width units like amps etc.
The small size of the card gives much,more flexibility with placement and usage imho. |
Why not GK?
Today's smartphones are extremely powerful and competent. If it can say boost reception or help prolong battery life it would be a good idea.
Of course no idea if it does, I have not tried one between phone and case but might be worth a try just to see.
Anybody actually tried one on a phone yet? |
I have no idea if it can GK, it was just a guess. I mean would be nice if it could as I work in a lot of factories with lots of noise, electrical and interference of buildings etc.
Anything would be a bonus.

And just a shout out for Tim here as being a true gentleman and excellent to deal with all round.

I have 7 ecards total and one mat.
The mat is on the Inside of main breaker door as posts suggest that is most effective place to start.
Ecards.
1 on Brooklyn DAC.
1 on Bluesound vault2 music server
1 on Goldnote phono stage.
2 on Equicore 1800 power conditioner
2 on Ayre ax7e integrated.
Out of those card placements only the Ayre coukd be exchanged for a full mat due to size of other components.
To my ears and in my system, it reduced background noise substantially even over what the blue fuses and blue duplex achieved.
To me they seem to have had most effect on instruments like piano and acoustic guitar. Appears to be more air and separation on individual notes. Hard to describe but I can certainly tell a change.
Now they have only been in place 1 week so expecting more.

Tomorrow morning I intend to do all the power cords, all interconnect male ends and speaker cable banana plugs on the main system.
Pretty sure I read somewhere Here it was safe to do the actual iec power pins on the equipment itself as well.

Well I applied the TC paste this morning.
Squeezed out what I thought was a tiny amount but it was enough to do my main system, second system, third system AND the ht rig too!
Goes a long way.
This was all power cords, interconnect and speaker cable ends. I did not open up any equipment and do anything inside.
Doing contacts in the main breaker box will be a job for another day.
I must have 3/4 of the tube left! In the freezer it goes. |

Freshly TC pasted system this morning and finally got around to finding time to sit down and listen to something.
First music I qued up on Tidal just 16/44 Red Velvet Car by Heart.
I am still sitting here with a big silly grin plastered across my face!
It is as though Ann Wilson is in the room performing just for me!
I know some made fun of my prior description but it is still as good as I can come up with.
The music is just there, in the air and all around.
It is definitely not coming out of my speakers, just can't be!
So yes very very happy as well and if it all only just gets better??

that is exactly what I have done.
One mat in circuit breaker door and total of 7 ecards scattered around components.
And yes it works extremely well.

AMG56I hear your concerns especially after the corepowertech debacle and the money you are out and I can certainly understand your worries.
I know it will not do much good just myself telling you this,but Tim is not even remotely close to that type of mentality or personality as Mark displayed towards the end.
I cannot speak for him I know, but I would be shocked if Tim ignored you or did not honor his word if you tried his goods and decided they did nothing for you in your system.
I waited a fair while before taking the plunge on cards, mats and tc paste but the number and quality of people coming forward saying the same thing made me take a leap, of faith if you want to use that thought process.
I do not regret one single dollar spent!

Never expected to be happy about working away for a week at a time but...
It is almost like having a new to me system when I revisit the main rig after a weeks absence and letting the TC paste and emats/cards do their stuff while gone!

Well another eye opener.
I just decided to take a lie down and listen to some music more in the background.
So I chose the bedroom which has the 3rd system in which is very simple and basic.
Holy moly, was seriously unprepared for what I heard.
I had always considered this rig to be somewhat dull and lacking sparkle and oomph.
Not now heck no. 3 different albums in and I am still not relaxing with it as background music as was the initial intent. Thoroughly enjoying it is what is occurring!
I am deeply impressed at changes wrought by TC paste only that has been curing for just under a week now. |

I find it hard to put into words the effects that have been wrought admittedly by the numerous varied tweaks present now.
But I rarely break out the vinyl nowadays, maybe just once a week whereas Tidal is playing every night for sure.
Right now listening to a Tidal MQA stream of Fleetwood Mac and I am just savouring every note and every word.
Totally mesmerizing.

Just been working away from home a week and came back late last night.
First serious listening session tonight and woah!
It truly is akin to an upgrade somewhere every week as it just keeps getting better.
Now I do not know exactly just what is the main driver as within a few days of each other I installed blue fuses, duplex, emats/cards and tc paste.
But it is working!
Bass is tighter and deeper, vocals are to die for, acoustic instruments just ooze life.
I am loving it!

Not wishing to derail this thread but as you asked....
I think you will find that a lot of members who post in the music threads play instruments or did and were in bands etc.
I myself played Bass guitar and wrote the lyrics in our band and heck yes we even made inclusion on a vinyl compilation album and released a vinyl single back in England( I still have the master single and it was mixed at Abbey Road Studios, yes THOSE Abbey Road Studios!).
My claim to fame for 15 minutes.... lol.

I placed 3 ecards on top of my equicore 1800 and I think it really helped the sq a lot and do not intend to remove them except if I replace with a full emat of course.

I find your attitude and posts neither insulting or childish but usually illuminating.
However on this subject I think you may have missed the mark quite badly.
I admit it would be a little tedious to trawl through all 1500 posts but it was established LONG ago that magnetism had nothing to do with the emats performance, rather just a convenient way of affixing them to breaker box doors and equipment etc. The smaller ecards have no magnetic properties whatsoever.
But you go girl, fill us in with the sordid details as they happen.
