Pass Labs X2.5 and Home Theater Master remote

Hello to all. I’m not new here to reading posts but this is my first post and unfortunately I’m asking for help. 

I have a “new to me” Pass Labs X2.5 but it came without a remote. Internet legend says that the Home Theater Master remote would work. The remote does “communicate” and makes the preamp go silent, for a few 3 digit codes but it will not turn it off in search mode which is the first step in finding the code for other functions. Anybody know the code or have advice?
