Outboard PS for Audio Research VSI55/KT150

Has anyone used an external PS to run KT150 in a VSI55?  I'm exploring the possibility of running a seperate 6VDC regulated PS for the 2A per tube required for the filament voltage.

I'm not especially adept at PS design, either, so if you have some ideas I'm all ears.
