OPPO dvd and Wadia 861

Just purchased a Panasonic 900U projector and am in the process of incorporating home theatre into the hi fi. I have no intention of doing the full blown HT thing for audio but am enjoying the audio experience Im getting now with my very old Toshiba DVD player running into Wadia 861 and choosing the 2 channel mix on the dvd menu. I am considering the OPPO for the video quality but am afraid the sound will suffer in this configuration. I tried a newer sony dvd player and the video was better but the sound was not good. Anyone with experience using this dvd player and running audio to outboard dac?
