I would first try "bi-wiring" the 2.5i's. This will greatly improve the overall performance of your mains, while affecting them as more efficient, as you'll get allot more current to them. NHT recommends bi-wiring / not bi-amping. That's the main reason they provide the double connects. Unless you run "sub out" low frequencies to a seperate power amp for the two woofs (stereo) that could also provide much better bass definition, and you would not run into the timing issue mentioned above, or volumn control issues. Experiment and have fun.
Onkyo SR876/NHT 2.5i front speakers??
Right now, I am using my Onkyo SR876 avr with NHT 2.5i front speakers. Center, surround L/R and surround back speakers are also NHT in a 7.1 system - room size 12 x 18.
I am wondering whether I would gain any improvement in audio quality if I biamped the front speakers by using a NAD C372 integrated amp - Onkyo front pre-out via RCA IC to the Nad tape input. Would such a setup allow for the effective use of the Audyssey speaker setup?
Thanks for opinions and suggestions.
