Onkyo SR876 firmware update question

When it comes to firmware updates for the Onkyo SR876, is it likely that recently purchased units will have more/all of the available firmware updates ccompared to earlier manufactured units?

I am going to purchase a new SR876 and am considering not even unpacking the beast but rather just sending it on to Onkyo Syracuse, NY for installation of all available firmware updates. Is this advisable?
