Older Dynavector 17d2 mII vs 20x2l

I am curious how the Dynavector Karat 17d2 Mii is compared to other newer Dynavector cartridges like the 20x2L. I have an opportunity to get a 17d2 mii in amazing shape with a straight cantilever and an super sharp stylus. I know the cantilever of the 17d2 is unique and it is a several year old cartridge. I don’t have the opportunity to listen ahead of time so wondering what opinions were out there.

Not looking for a lecture on used cartridges I know the risks and the rewards as well!

Excellent cartridge with unique diamond cantilever. I love KARAT series and also have 17D2 mkII (NOS) and 17DS and 23RS. They are all amazing LOMC cartridges. Pictures are in my virtual system here.

If you want a DIAMOND cantilever what else you can buy for reasonable price? I believe nothing else. Enjoy!

Read this interview with Dynavector founder and designer.

My old thread about Dynavector carts.

P.S. Suspension is not a problem for KARAT series @artemus_5, if you never owner KARAT please do not comment about "problems" , I tried many and they are all perfect!
@artemus_5 Maybe you have to read what OP said, see below:

If you have never owned a KARAT or a dozen of NOS vintage cartridges your comment below is just a suggestion, but in reality it’s not the case. At least I can confirm that out of maybe 100 different cartridges and different samples I have not seen more than a few with softened or stiff suspension (compliance is measurable with Test Record).

Over time the suspension becomes a problem. So I’d be careful of cartridge over 8-10 yrs old. That cartridge is suspect to being too old and may have a stiff suspension.

It depends on the material used by the manufacturer for the damper, but Dynavector just did it right. People like you have a fear of vintage cartridges, it’s strange that you called 8-10 y.o. cartridge "too old", it’s not even vintage. I have cartridges made in the 80’s and the suspension/damper is still perfect. Stiff suspension is a myth! On some modern hand made cartridges suspension collapse is a common problem, but it’s getting softer, not stiffer (if you don't store your cartridge in the freezer).

... suspension can be a problem with any cartridge .What makes the Karat different?
