fully toward cartridge is minimum anti skate, increasing as it moves toward pivot

Anyone know which way reduces the anti-skate force and which way increases it. IOW, if I want to reduce anti-skate, to I push it forward toward cart end of tonearm or back toward pivot? TIA.
