Anyone on the ohm branded sub? |
As per above, mine are only two weeks old. But if they break in the way i think they are headed, and based on past performance with other gear, im going to surmise that the signal cable silver resolution will be a nice match.
Im using some audio art cables ive had lying around right now, but RBF, i would not hesitate to try some Blue jeans cabling as well. |
Does anyone have any info on the ohm center channel. Im thinking about some micro walsh talls for ht duty b/c the small size helps WAF. Was wondering if the ohm center is also on the smaller side?
Thanks |
I'm now committed to buying a pair of MWTs. although the veneer looks very nice, John is willing to make a one off pair in a color, if i supply the paint. Anyone ever done an ohm in a solid color?
Any solvent based paint suggestions would be appreciated, looking to do a dark blue....
As John said very well, "can always paint em black if you get tired of the color" |

My mwt 's arrived on friday. Very impressive. I will have further post soon but my prelimninary thought is that they are the most non audiophile high end audiophile speaker ive heard. In a great way....
Second i put them in both my great room with hard wood floors no furntiture and large windows... Their ability to charge or couple tonthe room is unbeleivable. I then put them in my smaller tv room......equally impressive in a different way.
Im happy.... |
I currently use vintage ls35as as my reference trasing off with omega alinco hemps for single driver fun
Historically, ive owned quite a bit going back to dunlavys, and tannoy reds. As stated above ill add more detail when i have a chance for context and reference |
Anyone who does not believe in break in should audition ohms for a month. Mine are a few weeks old and they have taken on different sound aspects. Right now they seem to be going through a "dumb" period as a bit congested ......but they have certainly floated my boat thus far |
Is anyone using their MWT's (or other ohm) in a 5.1 set up? Im liking them so much im going to order a center from Ohm. If so, what are you using as surrounds?
I ask because my family room came pre-wired with in ceiling back surrounds and OHM does not make in wall stuff. Wifey has nixed the OHM on wall so i was curious about timbre matching with the previously installed surrounds. |
RBF- yes i am. And i agree that it is not the ideal setup-but i think this about most stereo for tv listening. The dialog spread you are hearing, is imho sort of the down side to what is great about the ohms for music-namely the imaging and all over room sound.
This is why i want to buy a center channel from ohm to lock down that part of the viewing experience. |
Bondmanp-thanks for the response. The n ceiling speakers were pre wired/installed when i bought the house. Since OHM does not make an in wall and wifey rejected the on wall ohms as ugly was trying to get suggestions as an in ceiling speaker with some timbre similarity to the ohms. The currently installed def techs do not. |
Anyone seen or tried the sub that John @ Ohm offers? I do not believe it is an in house design, but seems pretty inexpensive at $250 in black and OHM will re-veneer to match existing walsh models |
If i recall my conversation with john, the sub is approximately 16 cube, goes for 250 in black or another $150 for optional matching ohm veneer
Its a little large for my needs but the matching veneer may make up for it. If its covered by the generous ohm return policy i may take a shot...
would like to know a little more detail re amp/driver/port(??) and general performance but given that there are some decent subs coming out of china these days (REL) it sounds interesting. |
Just put my bryston o to my mwt's The prior posts re power are spot on. Bryston plus ohm equals beauty |
The new website looks great. Anyone know when /if the pics of the various center channels will be up?
I have a nice ohm center but its a bit tall and was wondering what the pancake and other versions look like. |
Just figured id throw my two cents in here as i have not posted in a while. Im using MWT talls up front with a walsh center that JS rigged up in a 5.1 system that i use for daily tv watching. Powered by a bryston monster amp, i do love the house sound. Very warm sounding and never strident, but with plenty of detail and of course the imaging/soundstaging wonders.....
Seems that the bryston + ohm is a very good combo that i stumbled on to. I have had dozens of speakers and amps and i continue to be impressed with the ohm sound. In fact i may have to dig out my decades old D2's out of the basement and refoam them just to see what they sound like. I recall dislking them when i used them in the 80s... |
